Rape is a serious crime involving sexual acts forced on one person by another.
In essence, rape is sexual intercourse that was carried out forcibly against a persons will. It is when a person penetrates another's vagina, anus or mouth with a penis, without the other person's consent. There are many different types of rape such as diminished capacity rape, date rape, incest, partner rape, aggravated rape, acquaintance rape, and even marital rape.

70% of rapes are committed by someone know to the survivor. One in seventy-one men will be raped atsome point in their life, while one in every five women has been a victim of an attempted of completed rape.Majority of rape victims are between the ages of twelve to thirty-five and have the highest risk for rape or sexual assault. Child victims are around the age of twelve to seventeen.

Sadly, sexual violence is common in our society. Regardless of a persons age, gender, or sexual preferences the impact and trauma of a rape victim goes far more than just physical abuse of injuries. Victims of rape are never the same after. They never really feel safe anymore, they question their self-worth, they do not trust people anymore, they do not trust themselves, and they question their sanity. Rape survivors often will struggle with PTSD, depression and anxiety after the traumatic experience.

Victims of rape are very vulnerable to being blamed for their assault. Victim blaming is a phenomenon where victims of tragedies get blamed or are held accountable for what happened to them. Some of the saying used for victim blaming those who were raped include ‘she asked for it because she was drunk” and “she was asking for it because of what she was wearing”. These are all misconceptions used as “justifications” for victim blaming and it is essential that we acknowledge and dispel these.
The goal of the group’s design activism is to inform and raise awareness how heavy of an issue rape is. Many see rape as a common issue about the massive toll it take on the victim. The group emphasizes the effects of getting raped on both men and women through the symbolisms shown in their design activism.
